Thanks for your interest in our 2010 summer visits to universities in Europe, Africa, Asia and our 2011 summer visit to the USA. If after reading the trip mission statement and history, you are still interested, then I will need two items from you: A detailed resume that helps to show your value to the mission A two page letter to Franklin Education & Development Corporation outlining how you plan to assist FED accomplish its mission Mission Statement: The purpose of the mission grant is to introduce faculty members of the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia to the advantages and requirements of exchanging graduate and undergraduate students. First a little history. In 1966, after serving with NCR, Honeywell, and several other companies in the computer industry, I founded the University of Computer Sciences in Houston, Texas. UCS quickly received Federal approval for the training of non-immigrant aliens and we opened 20 campus locations in six states and the Dominican Republic. We were also very successful in working with the various state educational agencies, and many of our students were sent to us by the Texas Vocational Rehabilitation Commission. I sold my interest in the company a few years after its stock began trading to the public. I spent the next few years as a senior pastor for Southern Baptist churches in Texas. I returned to education in 1992 and joined Paul Quinn College (the oldest HBCU west of the Mississippi and part of the AME church) in 1994. My responsibilities included spending much time in Washington, DC with the Department of Education and several other federal agencies. I also was in charge of raising money through local and national foundations. We raised over 21 million dollars in four years through federal and private agencies. My greatest joy came, however, from developing collaborative agreements with local and international universities for our School of Education and our Nursing program. I left Paul Quinn College to return to my consulting & publishing businesses. Since then I have acted as a consultant to many educational and business enterprises: Texas Woman's University, University of Dallas, Fort Worth Housing Authority, North Texas Regional Library System, South Texas Regional Library System, University of Texas at Arlington, North Lake College, AFL/CIO Labor Union, Dallas County Mental Health/ Mental Retardation, Tarrant County Mental Health/Mental Retadation, Dickies BarBQ, Arkansas TV Channel 21, Synetics Computer Corporation, St. Mary High School, and many others. Also, my publishing business has put me in contact with many academics worldwide. I know how to raise money for worthwhile projects and the student exchange opportunity today has never been better. I believe that working together the problems involved with student exchange can be solved. Please see my complete resume at any of my web sites. Thanks again for your interest and I am looking forward to answering your questions. Ludwig Otto
